Notice to Cumberland County Tax Payers

The 2014 tax on real estate and personal property must be paid by Monday, January 5, 2015.
 
Interest and enforced collection on all delinquent taxes will begin on January 6, 2015, to include immediate levy on your bank account, garnishment of wages, rents, income tax refunds, levy and sale of personal property and/or foreclosure. Collection fees will be added to the tax due.

Per North Carolina General Statutes, payments must be affixed with a postmark by the United States Postal Service on or before January 5, 2015 to avoid interest. All others will be deemed received on the actual date received in our office and interest will be added accordingly.

Payments are accepted in the office or online at www.co.cumberland.nc.us/tax/payments/ using your Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express debit or credit card, with a convenience fee.  Pay by phone by calling (866) 441-6614.  Electronic checks are accepted online only at no cost.

Holiday Office Closure:
Our office will be closed Wednesday-Friday, December 24-26, 2014; Thursday, January 1, 2015; and Monday, January 19, 2015.  In addition, staff will not be available to answer phone calls.

The 2014 property taxes on real estate and personal property listed in January 2014 will be delinquent if not paid by Monday, January 5th, 2015. After this date, per NC General Statute, interest will be added.

Enforcement proceedings such as: Garnishments, Bank Attachments, and Foreclosures could begin on January 6th, 2015, on the 2014 real estate and personal property delinquent tax bills.

The deadline for 2014 tax payments sent by mail to avoid interest is January 5th, 2015.

The NC General Statutes state that only a postmark affixed by the United States Postal Service is acceptable for proof of date mailed to avoid interest.
